OUR TEAM MEMBERS

The Divorce Facilitator , A systemically and collaboratively trained professional, works to unlock the difficult dynamics that have caused the client couple difficulty in the past, allowing them to move efficiently and effectively through the divorce transition. This important team member helps the couple and team, avoid potential road-blocks that are costly and impede progress. Their work increases productive communication, reduces negativity and blame, and empowers the couple to be successful in achieving their stated goals for the process.

Child Specialist
This important team member helps parents learn how to minimize the traumatic impact that divorce has on children. Because their is no court process in this program,  this professional does not evaluate either the parents or children, instead, they are there to support parents in their endeavors to parent their children through the transition without involving them in the adult transaction of divorce.  Additionally, they give voice to the often unspoken concerns and fears that children have. Their focus is on identifying and developing greater parental strength as mothers and fathers as they move through this painful transition.

Certified Divorce Financial Analyst
Our Financial team member , specifically trained to meet the standards of the IACP will inform and educate both spouses so that you design an effective financial settlement that focuses on meeting your specific needs.  If one person is higher on the learning curve than the other, the financial specialist will work to make sure all is clear and understood as a couple moves forward towards their settlement. The Financial team member does not create settlements for others, instead empowers couples to create their own. Click here for the article, "The Financial Fear Factor."

Collaborative Attorneys
These specially trained legal professionals represent their client, while keeping in mind the respective needs of the family. They empower their clients to work together to co-create the most optimum settlement and future co-parent partnership. Collaborative attorneys do not speak for their clients or tell clients what to say, instead they empower and support each individual in the process to bring their own best ideas forward. Additionally, they will not use coercive tactics or use the court to mandate solutions. Because this type of practice is so new, it is important to ask a potential attorney if they've met the requirements put forth by the international academy of collaborative professionals.

Divorce Coaches
This team member works individually with each spouse to support them more specifically where over-riding concerns may cause a client difficulties in moving forward. They work in conjunction with the facilitator to make sure each client spouse's needs are being met. They are available to the spouses, to help them navigate the sometimes difficult transitions within the divorce process. These professionals require specialized training to participate in a collaborative case.
The First Step
Although you can come to this process  through any of our team member doors, generally the first step is an initial consultation with the Facilitator.  This is an informational session where you both can find out about options, while the facilitator gathers information about you, and what your specific needs are. Many couples are not sure about the direction of divorce, or one person is further along than the other.  These concerns are often part of the first meeting. Subsequent sessions prepare the client couple for each stage of the process to make sure no road-blocks get in the way of progress.
The Next Step
Once both spouses decide to move forward, the determination of which team member used next is based on the client couple's most pressing concerns, be it financial, parenting or legal.  If your concerns are legal, you have two choices: Each spouse can meet with a collaboratively trained attorney or both spouses can meet with one mediating attorney. The attorney(s) will outline how this process works, the responsibilities of the team to the clients and the responsibilities of the clients to the team.
The other team members: Coach, Child specialist and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, are available for the other areas of concern.
